The weather is getting wetter generally and the ground is getting softer, but that is doing little to dampen the spirits in the yard as the horses are in great form and we have been lucky enough to see several winners in recent days.

Last Wednesday (21st October) was a bumper day in terms of runners and as it transpired in terms of results as well.  The yard saddled five at Fontwell and four at Hereford, but we hardly expected that this would yield three winners and another three second-place finishers!

The winners started early when Lord Accord won the first at Fontwell.  He had previously won a national hunt flat race at the same track and the introduction of hurdles proved to be no hindrance as he went clear at the last to record a thirteen-length success.  By the time race two at Fontwell was completed, the yard had a second winner.  Former jockey Noel Fehily has ridden plenty of winners for the yard, but this time he was involved in owning one as Rookie Trainer came home in front and a third winner came later on the card when Chirico Vallis led his rivals throughout and powered clear to win.  It was three winners and three different winning jockeys with Brendan Powell, Robbie Dunne and Richie McLernon all adding a winner to their tallies.

A special day could have been even better still as three of the Hereford runners went close to winning as well.  Caroline’s Charm and Prettylittlething both found one too good before Translink passed the post first but was demoted to 2nd when the on-course stewards adjudged that he had caused interference to the second-placed finisher.

Later in the week, we had several other runners knocking on the door as Cremant, Kansas City Chief and Frau Georgia were all placed and a 4th winner arrived on Sunday when Princess T finished well to land a handicap hurdle at Wincanton, another winner ridden by Brendan Powell.
