The new season is under way and thankfully the horses continue to run in good form. We got our first winner of the season last night with Agapanthus and Mark Quinlan winning the 5.05pm at Kempton. Agapanthus had fallen 6 days earlier when it looked like he was going to win at Wincanton where he was 5 lengths clear at the second last. He had to work harder for it yesterday but he was given a fantastic ride by Mark Quinlan and thankfully he finished with his head in front this time. On the same day the 7th May we were in 4 other races where we finished 2nd in each of them, so as you can imagine it was great that the horses were running well but frustrating that we never got our head in front. I have 2 runners tomorrow at Aintree where hopefully they can both pick up some prize money and make their presence felt. Indian Stream runs in the 5.25pm she has ran twice for me so far finishing 1st and 2nd and it will be no surprise to see her run a big race again under Dougie Costello and Bishops Court makes his debut for me in the Bumper at 8.45pm. He is a nice big horse who won his point to point for the Chanin’s and their son Ian who will ride him again tomorrow. The power washing of the boxes has begun followed quickly by the paint brushes which will take a bit of time but the end result is always good as it is nice to have a clean and tidy yard. The Doncaster sales are on next week from Monday to Thursday so I have been spending hours and hours going through the catalogue to try and find us a few nice horses for next season so I will be up there from first thing on Monday morning. This year’s Owners’ and Friends Day will take place on Sunday 30th August so please try and keep your diary free for that, times and arrangements will be sorted closer to the date. If you are not an owner or friend of the yard and would like to join us on the 30th August please email me or give me a call on my mobile and we would be more than happy to make arrangements for you to come along. With the warmer, brighter and longer evenings Patrick Becky and I have been catching up with Patrick’s little pony Silver as you can see above. Patrick celebrated his 3rd Birthday last Thursday and just loves being around the horses. Thankfully everything else is pretty quiet around the yard and the horses out at grass continue to enjoy their time off.
