I hope the latest restrictions are not adversely impacting you.  At least this time around racing is continuing although the experience available to owners is even more restricted than it has been.  There is obviously a long way to go, but news of early vaccine success yesterday does provide some hope of a return to more normal racing action in 2021.

Until then, it is a case of making the best of the situation and circumstances in front of us and thanks to the care and attention of the whole team at the stables, the horses do not know that they are performing in strange times and the results on the racecourse have provided plenty of cheer.

On Tuesday 25th October, the yard had another winner when Molliana came home in front, continuing the fine run of form to start the jumps season proper.  This was another winner for Mike Burbidge, with Tom Scudamore on board and it was two winners in two days for Mike when Master Burbidge won at Fakenham the following afternoon with Harry Reed riding another winner.

You know the yard is in good form when the “long” wait for the next winner is only five days!  At Plumpton, First Quest finished 4th, but was overshadowed by his stablemate, The Twisler, who won the race.  That win was a hat-trick for Harry who had only had one ride since Master Burbidge when he made the long trip up to Ayr for another winner.

Last Friday, it was James Best in the saddle when Miss Jeanne Moon returned from a break to maintain the yard’s fine form at Fontwell Park with the first win of her career in her handicap debut over hurdles.

We are lucky enough to have the services of several top jockeys and it is always nice to see the winners being spread around.  On Sunday, it was the turn of Sam Twiston-Davies who helped Cremant to battle on really gamely to hold on for the win at Stratford and yesterday at Chepstow, Robbie Dunne, gave Darksideoftarnside a very calm ride to only take the lead at the last before going on to secure the win.

It has been a great start to the winter season and here’s hoping that the good form continues in the coming weeks.
