The good recent run of winners was continued this week when Princess T won the last race at Southwell on Tuesday.
Molliana had already gone close, beaten into 2nd place earlier on the card, so this race was some recompense for Mollianna's owner Mike Burbidge who part-owns Princess T through his business Dajam Ltd. Tom Scudamore was on-board for the victory and when challenged on the run-in, he found Princess T to be a willing partner as she quickened well to retain her lead at the line.
With Ballymilan staying on well to finish 4th at the same meeting and Magical Thomas and Green or Black both finishing third later in the week the horses appear to still be in good form and hopefully those engaged in the coming days will also go well.
The current ground conditions are obviously not suitable for all of the horses as some would prefer the going to be a little slower, but most tracks are doing a good job providing nice safe ground and we certainly should not be complaining about warm weather in the summer!
It has been good to see an easing of restrictions allowing more owners to attend with each runner and allowing the courses to lay on a hospitality experience a bit more in line with what they have provided to owners in the past. Whilst going racing is still a pretty surreal experience, with very few people at the track and strict access controls, no one wants to do anything that poses a risk to health and it is good to see that the courses are doing as much as they can within the constraints so that hopefully some owners will still benefit from the opportunity to see their horses run.
