This week started off well with Harley Rebel winning at Kempton for his owner/breeders Gloria and Stephen Seymour. It was a very exciting day for them as Harley Rebel is their first homebred and he is now a winner so well done to them on a great achievement. Unfortunately my next runner didn’t go as well as planned which was Special Report who was running a great race as he usually does, travelling well behind the leader down to the 3rd last where the leader fell in front of him and broke his leg. He will be sadly missed by his owners and all the staff in the yard as he was a lovely natured horse who was very kind and finished in the money more times than not and our thoughts go out to his owners. Thankfully Midnight Sequel got the show back on the road the next day at Fontwell where she finished 3rd and was beaten less than 5 lengths. She is consistently running well for her owners Strictly Come Racing and will hopefully be putting her head in front in the near future. Pass The Time ran at Punchestown on Saturday where it never stopped raining and the ground went totally against her so we didn’t have any luck there, as we all know she is very tough and consistent and we hope she will be back in the winners enclosure sooner rather than later. I have a busy day tomorrow with runners at 3 meeting. Lifetime at Warwick, Buck Magic at Kempton and Sharp Sword and Harley Rebel at Bath. Lifetime ran a respectable race last time to finish 4th and hopefully he can finish in the money again tomorrow. Buck Magic is running over course and distance which he has run well over in the past but he hasn’t been the most straight forward horse but I don’t see any excuses for him tomorrow so hopefully he can run a more encouraging race for his owner Brian Derrick. You would like to think that Harley Rebel will go close tomorrow after his win last week where he has come out of the race very well. Sharp Sword is running over a shorter distance tomorrow so hopefully the faster pace will help him settle better and pick up some prize money for his owners Ian and Hannah Dale-Staples. On our way to Punchestown earlier in the week Becky, Patrick and myself called in to see my family to tell them the good news that Becky is expecting a little brother or sister for Patrick on the 20th October which is great news for us to finish off a fantastic season.
