Three Winners As Jumps Season Gets Going

In the last update, we were preparing for the Neil Mulholland Racing Club horse, Doing Fine, to run at Warwick.  Unfortunately, the ground went against him that day and he was a non-runner.  He is now being targeted at a race later this month and if you would like to get involved in ownership through the racing club, then please check the racing club webpage and get in touch if you would like more information.

We have seen the ground turning softer in the last couple of weeks and it has been tricky with horses being declared based on the going description, only to find that it has changed by the time of the race!  We “hit the post” a couple of times when Cremant and Viking Ruby both finished 2nd but we were back in the winner’s enclosure on Saturday when it was great to see Dead Right stay on to snatch the lead and the win on the run-in.  Owned by leading jumps owner, JP McManus, Jonjo O’Neill Jnr was in the saddle as Dead Right bounced right back to his best to win at Market Rasen.

As is often the case, one winner is quickly followed by another and this came from our next runner, Scardura, at Newton Abbot on Monday!  Scardura was challenged two out, but Sam Twiston-Davies had a willing partner and Scardura kept on strongly to pull away on the run-in.

It was great to kick off the new month with a winner as well.  Milkwood won at Ffos Las on the 1st of October to provide the yard with a third winner inside a week.  He won easily with Robbie Dunne on board and has now been in the first three in all six of his most recent runs.  Here’s hoping he can keep that streak going for a while yet as the jumps season begins to gain momentum.
