It is hard to believe it is the 1st June already. The past few weeks have gone very quickly and it is a busy time with the horse sales at the moment. Two weeks ago it was Doncaster where I bought two new horses and last week it was Cheltenham sales where I bought another one. I was in Ireland this morning looking at a point to pointer which went well and it is off to Ascot sales in the morning before heading to Southwell for evening racing where Pure Poteen and Indian Stream run. Thankfully the horses continue to run in good form and we have had several winners since the Blog was last updated. Fox Norton was having his first run for me when he made his chase debut at Huntingdon last week. He is a very exciting horse to have in the yard, he had been schooling well at home before Huntingdon so it was fantastic that we got one run and one win into him before he went out to summer’s grass. He made a couple of mistakes but it was all good experience and he would have learnt a lot from it and Noel Fehily was very happy with him. Noel also won on Perfect Timing at Newton Abbot last week who was also having his first run for me. I also thought this was a good run as it was his first run of the season and he looked like the run might just bring him on a bit. He jumped well throughout the race and if anything he won too well so hopefully the Handicapper won’t go too mad tomorrow morning. Yesyoucan had lost his form before coming to me and it did take a couple of runs to get it back and thankfully we did as he won at Fontwell over hurdles and was given a nice confident ride by Leighton Aspell. Kristal Hart won again at Lingfield last Thursday where she is also entered for this Saturday coming. She was very tough and showed a very game attitude by keeping her head in front in a tight finish to reward The White Hart syndicate again and she has given them many good memories since she came into training. Unfortunately we had several hard luck stories like Henry Oliver down in Newton Abbot getting no run of the race at any stage to finish 2nd once again. June French and Midnight Sequel both fell in the latter stage of their races when they looked to hold every chance but hopefully they will be rewarded and their luck changes in the near future. The Bay Bandit ran a great race again for the Neil Mulholland Racing Club to finish 2nd at Newton Abbot last week and he is a great little horse who gives more good days out than bad days. We are getting on well with the steam cleaning and painting of the stables, the horses out at grass that are on their summers breaks are doing really well and I’m looking forward to getting them back in again.
